I bought a copy of "Takes" double viny at Juno's website in the UK. I checked the site today, and they're out of stock! They were out a few months ago, so I can only assume they'll have them again.
I've also found them at Decks.com, for about $40 before shipping (from Europe). Cd&lp.com for $25, Nuloop.com & HHV.de for about $30 before shipping.

If you can find it anywhere else in the states, let me know!

Summer = Live Shows! Brisa's got a ton of dates listed on her myspace page! Sorry, no US ones, yet.

"Takes" available on import vinyl

Juno Records carries "Takes" on ~~cd,~~ vinyl, ~~Windows Media or mp3~~ and you can purchase it online! Today, the double-disc vinyl will cost someone in the U.S. around $32, which is pretty standard for an imported double-record. Now go & get it!

(Correction, Juno only carries the vinyl, which I believe is the best way to not only hear the album, but enjoy the artwork!)

Brisa's new album hits shelves tomorrow - no word yet on how to get a copy in the States, but Brisa working on getting me information as soon as possible! Unfortunately, at press time, Discograph has not returned any emails. Write to them through their myspace page here and tell them you want a copy! In case you haven't heard, Brisa's album is less than a month away (see the countdown clock in the upper-left-hand corner for the exact amount of time left). To satiate us, Brisa's put a new track on her myspace page that is slated to be tucked away in her album...her "secret track" called "Ali Baba"! Enjoy it while you can, because she's not going to leave it up for long! Have a listen (along with a couple more new tracks - it's the only place you'll find them, for now).

Also, information about what it takes to buy "Takes" will be made available, soon!

My favorite radio show "This American Life" used Brisas song "Now That It's Long Over" as an interlude between two of it's pieces on breaking up. A great show, "This American Life" has a theme each week and has several stories which touch on that subject. The choice of music used on the show is always spot-on. It was a great surprise to hear Brisa's break-up song among all the infamous songs throughout the episode. You can download last week's episode or subscribe to the podcast, free: here.

"Takes" will be hitting stores in October on the Discograph label! And if you're like me, you prefer to have your music come from the warm sweater-sounding vessel of vinyl - well, "Takes" will be the first Brisa Roche Album available on vinyl! You can now hear 2 new tracks from "Takes" in their entirety! "Breathe In, Speak Out" and the hidden bonus track "Ali Baba" are on her MySpace profile! And as always, they can be on yours, too - just click "add" next to the track of your choice.
Now that's a lot of good news!

Update: "Takes" will be released on November 5th! That's still good news!

It "Takes" Time...
Pack up your sleeping bag and tent, get back in your car. Brisa's new album 'Takes' has been delayed, as she's decided to spend some more time with (and without) the work. Of course, it's possible that her label could release a single to tide us over...write to her label and ask them to! To read her explanation, see her myspace blog. My French is limited to a handful of words gleaned from Godard films and surrealist texts, so I'm not sure what it says other than something about a mountain, sausages and this collection of works by D.H. Lawrence" .. But, from speaking with her, she's very happy with the fact that she's stayed true to herself and how evident that is in 'Takes'.

Happy Birthday, Brisa!

Quite a bit has happened since the last post. Brisa's spent a lot of time and energy finishing her album, she's moved all her trinkets and instruments to another home and her record has been delayed by supernatural forces. In the interim, will she change, edit or re-record any of the tracks? Only Brisa knows. I've heard the album, I love it and can't wait to hear what all of you think, too. The lid on "Takes" is water-tight, so you have my sympathy. Thank you for all the offers of back rubs, candy and bugs in amber, but you're not going to get it until you pull it off the shelves. Keep checking back. I will let you know the new official release date as soon as it's decided upon. In the meantime, go look for her album "Soothe Me". Have any of you heard it? It's the precursor to "The Chase". It's an amazing mix of classic jazz covers and Brisa originals. Good luck finding a copy, though. Until I can find my copy, in the mess that's my cd collection, this image of the cover will have to do.

I wrote a long, sappy review for "Takes", but have decided that I'd distill it, to save you all the purple prose (even though she'd wouldn't want me to, bless her). "Takes" sounds as if she's gathered little scraps of paper, covered with notes to herself - having them talk to each other - like two diaries, conversing. The band is amazing. I'm giddy. It's like hearing "Norwegian Wood" for the first time, over and over. Repeat. Repeat!
