I started this site on October 29th, for Brisa and her friends to keep track of all the interesting things that were going to happen with her career now that she's put out such a grandiose album, so far away overseas.

It's been a pleasure to do this for not only Brisa, but all of you who have visited and subsequently, corresponded. I hope the next year is as good as this last, for everyone.

I'd really appreciate if you'd leave a comment - let all of us know where you live & how you may have stumbled upon this blog; by accident, on purpose or on serious purpose. You can leave an anonymous message, by the by - Whether your name is Viel Glück
or Scott, Uncle Steve or not. I'm definitelyy curious - I think Brisa is too.

Best wishes to you and yours,

Here's the other thing she told me: Blue Note just finished a video for 'Mystery Man' which will include footage from the original recording sessions and I believe, the InRocks live show.

Also, she is REALLY nutty about that Bumcello 'Animal Sophistiqué' album. Seriously, she's obsessed. Good luck finding it in the states, though. I've looked.
Thanks for the comments, it's good to see people are reading the blog - otherwise, why bother, right? Brisa is reading them. And who knows? She may answer some.

*Phew* Brisa's just dumped a bunch of new info on me, so I'm going to sift through it as well as I can. So, eat this: she's just recorded "Dans le Vert de ses Yeux" with some hunky French guy named Benjamin Biolay. From what my non-French speaking ass can ascertain, that song's been her big single off the album (she may correct me, if I'm wrong). I don't know who this guy is - maybe they're doing a Serge Gainsbourg/Jane Birkin thing...

update: The video stream has been pulled, so hopefully you've gotten a chance to see it. If anyone knows where to get a transcript, please let me know. Thanks!

An anonymous poster (thanks!) brought this to my attention. Brisa recently appeared on show which entails a round table discussion b/w different artists and writers. From my weak translating abilities the header reads: "Midnight Words: Philippe Lefait (host-pictured) receives guests to speak about culture, words which they have to say, to see, to hear.." It's about an hour and a half show which can be streamed via wmv. It has the worst intro and camera angle, ever & the editor needs to relax, as you will see - but it is quaint, artistic and it is French. The best parts are the few times she lets some giggles loose & how it'll snap it all back home, whether you're French or American or neither.

Brisa says: "I've begun officially preparing my solo show along with preparing my band.. Gonna have a coupla guitar lessons, even."

Brisa recommends: 'Animal Sophistique' by Bumcello

Brisa Recommends:

I've finally gotten my mitts on the cd (thanks B). It's killer. She says that there will be an American release with different tracks. So, try to get one as an import while you can. Can't get a copy domestically?

Brisa's dear friend Dameon, has a nice little rock outfit called "The Lowlights". You can check out thier music and such on myspace.com. She's even done some vocals for them. A little investigating and you can find it.

Brisa's hit (repeatedly) the iTunes French Jazz Top 10!

Or is that France's top 10 Jazz of the iTunes? Or the top 10 iTunes in French Jazz?

Doesn't matter. Fact is, she's tearing the arse out of the internet chart stuff, over there.

Don't believe me? Click on the Jazz option to the right of the "rock" chart which comes up.

Sadly, you can't get it if you have the American version of iTunes (like you had a choice?).

If you find her single on "American" iTunes, please let "us" know.

Nice goin' Breese.

Update: Her track "flying too high" is now #10!

Brisa's just told me that pics from her recent session with Jean-Baptiste Mondino will be on her official website when it's up and running.

Finally, a word on Brisa's American release!

Amazon.com can't get B's album to us in the states as of yet. I don't know of a domestic source that can. If you know, drop us an email! More as it develops.

Brisa will make a suprise appearance Monday night at the 'Festival Les InRocks' at the Olympia concert hall (the only venue the Beatles played in Paris), with the likes of Antony & the Johnsons, Devandra Banhart & Cat Power. (She says she's pretty nervous about it)

Amazon.fr recently featured B. as a "star du jour", translation provided by google. Also, they've finally loaded samples of all the tracks from "The Chase".

On a related note: Louis Malle's film 'Elevator To The Gallows' (what I thought to be called: 'Lift to the Scaffold' - I was pretty close!) has been re-mastered and is thankfully, being re-released in select theaters. You may want to see it, if not for the single reason of hearing Miles Davis' unique score. I've never seen the film, but was lent the cd (and have never given it back - if you're reading this, Steve) by jazz afficionado, writer and former bassist for
Amazing Dimestore, Steve Csutoras, some 10+ years ago. I'll give it back to you now, if you'll forgive me.

And it's Jeanne Moreau's first film appearance.
